No Doubt

I have a friend who, after someone made a comment, would almost always reply, “No doubt, no doubt.” At the time it was annoying. I thought, ‘Don’t you have anything else to say?’

One day, I really listened to those two words. No Doubt. They began to take a different meaning.

How many time have we thought about doing something, had an idea or a dream, and let it die because of doubt? I will be the first to say that I have. But it wasn’t always that way. When I was younger, I was usually the first to try new things and take risks, most times uncalculated. If one of my friends said, ‘I dare you to…’ then I would do it. No questions asked. I was in it for the thrill.

Dale Carnegie, the quintessential salesman, once said, “Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.”

Fear and doubt go hand-in-hand as does belief and faith. When Jesus spoke to the fig tree to wither, and it did, his words to his astonished disciples were, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain (adversities, trials, difficulties) ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” (Matthew 21:21 NIV)

Most of us have heard the term, “Doubting Thomas.” It originated in the Bible. Jesus had to prove to one of his disciples, Thomas, that he had risen from the grave. In order for Thomas to believe, he had to put his hand on Jesus’ wound. He had to do something to erase his doubt.

What do you have to do to have ‘no doubt?’ What fears must you face to believe that you can? Whatever you must do, ‘go and get busy.’ No doubt.
